"I don't understand," Karen Simms stated. "How could this happen? I thought Peter and his father could handle just about anyone."

"The only way they would have taken Peter is if they threatened to kill his grandfather. They had to have taken him too to keep Peter compliant. Peter isn't that easy to take any more since he took the brands."

"But the sightings, the eye witnesses described Peter right down to the brands."

"It was a disguise."

Karen and Kermit nearly jumped out of their skin when a third older but familiar voice joined in their conversation.

"Matthew!" Kermit turned. "How did you get in here?"

Matthew gave Kermit a familiar shrug. "It was a piece of cake."

"I'm glad it's only Shaolin who can crack that alarm. I'd be in real trouble if it was anyone else."

"Perhaps you should have this," Matthew stated and handed Kermit the plastic bag he had been carrying.

Kermit looked in the bag, "Looks like that explains where we got our extra Peter Caine from. Here Captain, you may want to show this to Kelly Blake. Maybe it will cool her heals from her manhunt."

Kermit handed Captain Simms the plastic bag. She looked inside and her eyes narrowed.

"I still don't understand why anyone would impersonate Peter Caine and commit murder."

"To discredit my grandson in the eyes of the community." Matthew Caine stated.

"How . . ."

Karen started to ask when Matthew added, "The man who was disguised as my grandson told me."

"I'm not even going to ask how you managed that," Karen replied.

"Matthew, can you lead us back to where they were holding you and Peter?" Kermit questioned.

"Yes, but we will need my son to help us."

"Unfortunately, your son is sitting in jail right now."

"Why?" Mathew's eyes narrowed at the news.

"Kelly Blake said it was because he was obstructing justice and interfering in police business. She didn't believe him when he tried to tell her he did not know where Peter was."

All three turned toward the stricken Shaolin lying in Kermit's bed. Peter continued to toss and turn, once again fighting something that only he could see. Matthew approached the bed and ran his hands over his grandson's body.

"His qi is very weak. I do not understand what is happening to him."

Kermit explained to Matthew the symptoms of withdrawal. "Sent Mary Margaret to get the Ancient. I'm getting worried. They should be here by now."

"Perhaps there is something that I can do," Matthew stated. He then turned toward Karen Simms. The look in his face was enough.

"You don't need to ask. Sure. I'll drive you."

Matthew and Karen left Kermit to look after Peter.

"I just hope they'll get back here in time."
