Jody Powell and Kelly Blake stepped into chaos as they found Mary Margaret Skalany cleaning up Caine's apartment once again from an apparent attack.
"Skalany, what are you doing here?" Kelly asked.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" She snapped.
"Well, I know that. I mean isn't it your day off?"
"Where I spend my day off is none of your business."
"Take it easy Skalany," Jody intervened.
"I'm sorry, this business with Peter has got me on edge."
Powell and Blake looked at each other. It would seem their suspicions were turning more into fact from what they were hearing. Jody broached the subject. "You know about Peter?"
"Know about him, yeah. I could not believe it."
"Caine told you the whole story?" Kelly asked.
"Caine's beside himself with worry."
"Sounds like him to be worried," Kelly replied. "I'd be furious."
"Oh he's that too, but you know Caine, he usually hides it better than most."
"What's he going to do?" Jody asked.
"He and Kermit went over to the Ancient's to see if there were any clues to help locate both of them."
"Both of them?" Jody repeated, confused by Skalany's statement.
"Yeah, I told Caine he should inform the captain to be able to help deal with this, but he was bent on going it alone. Well, sort of. I guess Kermit is helping him."
"Skalany, what are you talking about?"
"Peter and . . ." Skalany was interrupted before she could finish what she was going to say.
"I though that's who you were talking about," Kelly stated, this time her voice held disdain. "I said he would get himself into trouble that he would not be able to get himself out of. That man's become a menace. Maybe locking him up will teach him a lesson. Better yet, with what he's done they should throw the book at him."
"Kelly, what are you talking about?" This time it was Skalany's turn to be confused.
"Peter Caine, the one man crime spree, who do you think." Kelly stated.
"Peter? That can't be right. Peter and his grandfather were kidnapped two days ago by the Black Widow Order."
"Grandfather?" Kelly questioned. "I didn't know Peter had a grandfather. Is that what Caine told you?"
"Oh, that's right," Jody added. "You haven't met Matthew Caine. You've been in and out of the precinct a lot. Every time Peter would come by with his grandfather, you'd be gone either at some police conference or training session."
"You know I've been trying to make Detective two. Besides, I don't believe there's any grandfather. Caine must be making excuses for Peter. I bet Peter is the one who made this mess."
"Kelly, you're not listening," Skalany stated. "Kermit knows about this. He came in with a folder from Nick Elder's office. That folder contained a report on a drug, a drug that was used on Peter. The Order kidnapped him and his grandfather."
"Skalany, your not going to tell me that Peter Caine is not behind these recent attacks on Chinatown citizens," Kelly argued.
"What? You can't be serious."
Kelly continued her argument. "Every description that's been given points to him. There aren't that many young handsome men with the brands of a dragon and a tiger on their forearms."
"And I'm telling you, Detective Blake, it can't be him."
"We'll just see about that," Kelly stated then stormed from Caine's apartment.
"Jody, you can't believe that Peter is attacking Chinatown citizens?"
"I don't know. We haven't heard otherwise. I don't want to believe them, but . . ."
"The captain asked you to look into these so called attacks."
"Yes," Jody replied reluctantly. "We have at least seven reports of incidents where Peter Caine was seen leaving the scene. We've got to check them out. And we need to speak to Caine and ask him what he knows about them."
"Yeah, I know. But remember the last time Peter was accused of a crime he didn't commit," Skalany reminded Jody.
"Yeah," Jody knew what crime they both referred to. "I'll keep that in mind."
At that moment, Kelly came back into the apartment. "Come on partner. We've got a crime scene to check out. Another call came in. This time Peter Caine's gone too far."
"What do you mean?"
"We have an eye witness. She said Peter Caine just killed her husband."
