Spider's Bite

Kermit left the Ancient's place only to find himself at a loss as to where to even begin searching for Donny Double D. Since his marriage Donny had not been seen on the streets as much. LuLa had seen to that. Kermit climbed into his trademark car and headed to the stem. He knew some of Donny's old haunts having accompanied Peter a few times. He headed to the first one only to find that it was closed for renovation. He then headed for the second. That one was completely shut down. Police tape was crossed over the door. Then Kermit remembered that this was the place where a man by the name of Bill Shatner had been found. He had been shot execution style at the back of the head. It was the very case that he just got finished printing out reports for Strenlich.
'At least that case was closer to being solved that this one,' he thought.
Kermit searched for Donnie for over an hour. He tried several more places, including the docks, but no trace of him could be found. He finally went over to LuLa's apartment. He realized this should have been the first place that he should have gone. He knocked on the door, but there was no answer. A neighbor walked by at that moment.
"You looking for Donnie and Lula?" she asked.
"Yeah, do you know where they might be?"
"Lula's mother died a couple of days ago. They've taken a trip to New York to pay their respects. I'm looking after the place while they're gone."
"Thanks." Kermit replied 'Well so much for finding Donnie."
Kermit was about to see if he could find another of Peter's snitches when he heard someone screaming. He raced down the front stairs and out the front of the building. He tried to pinpoint where the screaming was coming from when he saw a familiar figure across the street enter into the alley.
'How did he get here so fast?'
Kermit shook off his own question and followed. He spotted Caine giving comfort to a young woman who was in distress. That wasn't an uncommon sight accept the look on Caine's face was also quite disturbing. He could see something that the young woman said had greatly disturbed the Shaolin.
"Caine, what is it?"
Caine did not speak at first but lead the young woman to a nearby place that turned out to be a shelter for abused women.
"They will help you," Caine simply stated then left the young woman in their care.
"Caine, you going to tell me what that was all about?" Kermit questioned. "Your face turned ashen there for a moment. What did the woman say to you?"
Caine sighed deeply, steadying his nerves. "The young woman said that my son attacked her. But I know that is not possible."
"What? Darn right that's not possible after what you and I both know. Something's going on here."
"Yes, but we cannot look into it right now. We must return to the Ancient."
