The woman entered the only bar in town where there was a large gathering of men during the day.

'Don't they have anything better to do on a Wednesday?' she thought to herself. Even so, that was why she was here, to find out information.

The woman was aware of the many eyes that followed her as she walked across to the bar. She sat on the stool and told the woman behind the counter, "Give me a martini, no olive."

"Coming right up."

It wasn't more than five minutes when two men approached her on either side. She spied them out of the corner of her eye. One was other than the other, perhaps a father and son. They certainly were not her style of companion, but perhaps they were the kind of men that could give her the information that she required.

"I don't think I've seen you before. You just passing threw?" The older man on her left questioned her.

The woman took a sip of her drink before answering. "No actually, I just moved here a couple of months ago. I moved into the old Holmes estate. My name is Xia."

Xia could not help smiling to herself as she saw the reaction both men had at that piece of information.

"Cute name, but why would you want to live there? There's rumors that there were some weird things going on in that place."

"Really, like what?" Xia asked innocently.

"Some say the guy was into weird rituals involving snakes. You aren't into that sort of thing are you?"

"No, actually. I moved here to get away from such things," Xia lied. 'If these bozos ever knew what I was really into they'd high tail it out of here.'

"Do tell," the younger man on her right finally spoke. "Well you won't find that sort of thing going on around here. Can't say the same for the Lowery place."

"The Lowery place?" Xia questioned innocently.

"It's an old farmhouse just outside of town," the older man replied. "You may have seen it, strange place where guys in dresses gather. We try to discourage that sort of thing, but now days you just can't get away from it."

"Really," Xia took another sip of her drink. 'Looks like I hit pay dirt.' Xia cleared her throat than turned toward the man on her right. "Actually, I really don't like the idea that there are going to be deviants running lose in town. In the last town that I lived in, there were a few of us who, shall we say, managed to discourage their presence. If you really want to get rid of them, I may have a means, and it can be permanent as well."

"Is that so. Just how permanent would it be?" the younger man questioned.

"Really, and just how would a little lady like you know about getting rid of deviants," the older man questioned.

"You know the three monks that died? Well there is now a fourth, and there is no trace."

"You mean to tell me that you . . . How did you manage that?" the younger asked with a look of deep curiosity on his face.

"That's my secret. Of course there's got to be some kind of incentive to make it worth my while."

The man pursed his lips for a moment, then pulled out a business card and pen. He wrote something on the back then handed it to Xia "Talk to him if you're really interested in helping to get rid of our little problem. We've tried for 50 years and they still keep coming back. If you know of a way to get rid of these weirdos permanently, we will all appreciate it."

Xia swallowed the rest of her drink then pocketed the card. As she headed out the bar, she glanced over at the bartender who quickly turned away. 'Looks like I'm going to have to pay her a little visit later, after closing time.'

"Tell Kyle that Jake sent you," the man called out. Xia gave him a quick wave of her hand as he lifted his glass in a salute and turned back to the bar.
