The man entered Mr. Crabtree's office. A closer look revealed it was Carson.

"We've got trouble Mr. Crabtree."

"Carson, how many times have I told you not to come to me with petty details. If there's trouble take care of it. That's what your good at."

"Remember I told you about that Chinaman? Well, he's here in town."

"So?"

"So, he might have found out about the Montgomery woman. I saw him enter the Sheriff's office."

"So, take care of him," Mr. Crabtree stated impatiently. "We're not ready yet. I received word that the ship hasn't arrived from China. We still have to get our cargo to San Francisco yet. That's going to take another week. We can't be having some Chinaman giving us trouble."

"You don't know what he's capable of doing," countered Carson. "He's one hell of a fighter. He doesn't even need to use a gun. He ain't even wearing any shoes."

Mr Crabtree took a moment to rethink his position on the matter. If what Carson said was true about the man, then he would be fighting a losing battle no matter who he sent against him. Perhaps there was another way to deal with the man. "Show me this Chinaman. Perhaps we can reason with him."

"I don't think that's going to work, Mr. Crabtree."

"Nonsense, every man has his price. But first, I want you to find out all you can about the man. Maybe there's something we can use."

Dances in Sunshine remained huddled in a far off corner listening to Lilly's feeble attempts at trying to escape her fate. There was nothing she could do to protect Lilly from Jake Morgan, the large man who had carried the golden haired woman into this particular room. The man had come at Lilly in the night. Dances in Sunshine had heard it all before. She believed it would be no different this time. Eventually, Lilly would submit and that would be the end of it. All Dances In Sunshine could do was listen and watch as Morgan began fondling and groping his way through Lilly's thick clothing, telling her what she was expected to do for her new employers besides singing. In fact, he made it sound as if the only way to prevent her new employer from raping her was for Lilly to sing her pretty little head off then make love to her new master before being asked.

"On second thought, it can't hurt to sample the goods. This way they'll know what they're buying is worth the price."

As Morgan continued to fondle Lilly, his lust grew. Soon he was doing more than just touching her. Morgan pressed his body closer and began by nuzzling her neck. His hot breath came fast and hard against Lilly's exposed skin.

"Let's see what you have underneath this," Morgan whispered harshly in her right ear.

"Please, don't do this," Lilly pleaded.

"I'll do what I very well damn please. From here on out, you have no choice."

Lilly gave a startled cry as Morgan ripped through the front of her dress and exposed her under garments. Lilly tried to struggle out from under the man's heavier frame but he pulled her closer as he stroked her exposed skin.

"Well well, such soft skin. Much softer than those heathen squaw. Let's take a look at what else you've got to offer, as if I didn't know. I bet those sweet breasts of yours are just as soft."

Lilly began to shiver as her breasts were freed from the material. Fear gripped her as she realized every place that Morgan touched her, she began to respond, even though she tried desperately not to react. A part of her wanted to kill the man, another part didn't want him to stop, and that frightened her more. Her breath began to quicken as Morgan stroked her left breast to bring the nipple erect and then brought his mouth down to suckle like a new born baby. As Morgan continued to runs his tongue along Lilly's breasts, one hand moved up under the skirt of Lilly's dress and pulled her bloomers down below her knees. It wasn't long before they were lying on the floor and Morgan's hands were stroking her between her legs. There was nothing she could do to stop the man. She was caught under his spell, too fearful to move, too fascinated to tell the man to stop. Then her eyes fell and stared at what the man was about to do next. It was then that she found her voice.

"NO!"

Dances in Sunshine turned away as Morgan took Lilly. Tears of shame silently fell as she helplessly let the man have his way with the white woman. There was nothing she could do. If she even dared to interfere she knew she would receive another beating like the last one that scarred her face. She only hoped that what Lilly had said was true, that the man named Caine would find them in time.
