Return to Shambhala
Kwai Chang Caine appeared in Shambhala with Bon Bon Hai in tow. Brother William was there to greet him.
"So, this is the Tiger," Brother William glared.
"Yes," Caine replied. "He is not dead, just unconscious. He must be contained to prevent him from using his powers."
"We have no such place to contain him. This is a place of learning. To contain him will take knowledge that has not been used in 1000 years."
"There must be a way," Caine stated.
"Perhaps stripping him of his powers will be enough," Brother William suggested. He did not relish the idea of keeping such a dangerous man in Shambhala.
"That is one option, but he would still be a danger to the community."
"If we strip him of his powers, he will once again be mortal. He can then be tried in a court of law and imprisoned in your world."
Caine gave the matter some thought. Bon Bon Hai would be mortal once more, but if the man were put on trial in a court of law, would a jury be convinced that he was a dangerous man? Evidence against the man was circumstantial, including the charge of kidnapping. There were no witnesses to come forward to testify that they saw Bon Bon Hai kidnap anyone. Caine might be able to testify, but would he be believed. Peter and Henry may also testify, but their credibility would also come into question. They would have to tell the court about Shambhala and the Dark Warrior's realm, which to many were just mere stories and did not exist. No, Bon Bon Hai, even stripped of his powers would still be a dangerous man to cross, and would be more so after such a foolish endevour. Bon Bon Hai would go free and then there would be no one to oppose him.
"I do not think that is wise. Even without his powers, Bon Bon Hai is a threat. He must not be returned to the world of men."
"Uhhh," Bon Bon Hai was stirring.
"Quickly, he must be place in isolation," Caine insisted.
As Caine pulled the ex-Zhong Li Quan leader to his feet, a small object fell from his pocket. It was the tiger that Lo Si had lent to Peter. Caine picked it up and his thoughts turned toward his son.
"Brother William, I must find my son. Can you and the other brothers take care of Bon Bon Hai?"
"What is it that you wish us to do with him?"
"Just as the Dark Warrior was imprisoned, so must Bon Bon Hai now be imprisoned."
"As I said before, Brother Caine. That knowledge has not been used for 1000 years. Such knowledge takes great skill to use. Only the wises and eldest of Shambhala Masters are allowed to use such knowledge. It will take time. But because you have saved Shambhala many times, both you and your son, we will do as you ask."
Bother William called two monks over and took the shaken ex-Zhong Li Quan leader out of Caine's hands. Caine watched as they took Bon Bon Hai away. He shuttered at what would happen. He had not seen such workings before of one's qi. That was denied him for now as the youngest and newest of the Shambhala Masters. He still had much to learn. His qi was not yet strong enough to partake in such a task. He knew in principle what would happen. Bon Bon Hai's spirit would be withdrawn from his body, his qi dispersed upon the four winds. His weakened body would be allowed to fade out of existence while his spirit would be imprisoned into an urn lined with bronze. It was a living death, one that he would not even wish upon himself. Bon Bon Hai's spirit would not be allowed to return to the source of all things. Still, the prison that will hold him will only last for 1000 years, just as it had been for the Dark Warrior. One day Bon Bon Hai would return, but not for now.
Caine stared at the small tiger figure that rested in his grasp. There was only one place where Peter and Henry could be. He had to act quickly because once Bon Bon Hai was imprisoned, the realm of the Dark Warrior would be forever closed.
Caine pulled out the crystal medallion from his shirt and focused his thoughts. And in a flash he was gone.
