Year 1997
Kwai Chang Caine moaned. The pounding in his head reminded him that he was still alive. He reached up to brush his hair out of his eyes and discovered a sticky wetness. He pulled his hand away from his head and saw blood coated the surface. He looked around and realized that he was no longer in Mary Margaret's car or logically in a hospital where he should have been. He did not know where he was. Everywhere he looked was white. Not a single stick of furniture could be seen. The walls seemed to melt and blend with the floor. The ceiling also seemed to meld with the walls. It felt and looked like the world where he and Peter had fought the Dark Warrior, and yet Caine knew that the Dark Warrior had been defeated. How was it that he had ended up here?
Caine searched his pockets and found a handkerchief. He wiped the blood from his face and discovered that the cut on his temple had been healed, just barely. The wound though, felt hot and angry. He was certain that whomever healed him did not do a very good job, an infection had settled in the wound. As he tried to sit, his body protested. Bruised and battered, he had been lucky that what he had suffered from the accident would not be long lasting. 'If it had even been an accident,' he thought to himself. 'Someone must have sabotaged her car, but who and why?'
The answer to why was more apparent. The answer to whom wasn't. Caine crossed his legs into a lotus position and tried to work out the kinks in his neck then looked around at his surroundings.
"Where am I and why am I here?" he said out loud to no one.
"You are in my realm." A voice stated.
"Bon Bon Hai."
"We meet again, Shaolin."
Caine did not say a word, but continued to eye the man known as the Tiger.
"Do you know why I brought you here?"
Caine remained silent.
"No? Not even a guess?" Bon Bon Hai circled the Shaolin as he sat on the floor. "Then let me tell you. I am the Dark Warrior's heir. I have been given his power. You and your son will pay for destroying my Master and discovering it was I who betrayed the Zhong Li Quan and the cause. They could not have won either way. For two years I have waited for this moment. Not even your son is aware that you are here. In my realm you have no power. I will destroy your son and then you."
Bon Bon Hai disappeared, leaving Kwai Chang Caine alone.
