Can You Hear Me My Son?
by Alisa Joaquin

Can you hear me my son?
Your life was not yours to own.
You have returned to the source
of all things, to begin again,
but why have I not found you?

It is Father's Day again.
A holiday at first that
I did not understand.

With you gone,
I now know what that means.
To be honored by a child
is the greatest of gifts
a man could ever know.

You gave me honor and
love like no other.
You were your mother's son
as much as you were mine.

I hope you can hear
because I just want to say
I love you, my son and
you do me honor on
Father's Day.

Caine watched the children play with their father. It was a joy to be able to return them.

"Thank you sir. How can I repay you? You have given me back my children."

"There is no need. To see the joy in their eyes and in yours is payment enough."

"Do you have children?"

"Yes, a son."

"Where is he?"

"In my heart."
