Can You Hear Me Pop?
by Alisa Joaquin

Can you hear me Pop?
It's so hard to know for sure.
Paul says it's possible.
But I really don't know.

It's Father's Day again.
I remember those times
we would spend together,
just you and me.

I remember the day you
tossed the ball to me.
Throwing each pitch,
and the final one,
the tiger over the mountain.

I could see the look of pride
in your face when I caught it.
Can you hear me Pop?
Life is throwing me pitches,
but I am learning to catch every one.

I hope you can hear
because I just want to say
I love you Pop and
Happy Father's Day.

"Peter, is everything all right?"

"Yeah, sure Paul."

"How about you and I go play some catch after dinner."

"I'd like that. How long has it been since we've tossed a ball around?"

"Oh, I don't know, not since before you went off to the Police Academy."

"Hey did I ever tell you about the time my father and I played catch at the temple. You should have seen some of the craziest pitches he would throw. . . ."
