Omega II: Visiting with the Sages
Day 2 - Afternoon Session - Part 7

A personal account of the Tai Chi, Qi Gung, & Taoist Meditation Workshop held at the Omega Institute with David Carradine from October 6-8, 2000

It was Heidi Singh who brought up the issue that David had been filming somewhere and then David said, "At this moment, I'm in the middle of doing "Family Law." Do you know that series? It's just a wonderful show. I'm doing a three parter of that. And I'm right in the middle of that. I worked Friday from 6:00 in the morning till 9:30 at night. And then caught the plane to come here. At the moment, I hope this is going to change but I'm arriving in Los Angeles midnight Sunday night. And I go back to work at 6:00 in the morning again. And I'm playing a homeless schizophrenic. I'm playing the brother of one of the attorneys. They catch me taking a pee in an ally and I get arrested and he comes down and tries to get me out. And he can't get me out because they sent me over to the psych ward for observation because I am pretty crazy. And then he gets me out. Well I'm supposed to keep the thing a secret here. They want it to be sort of a secret because I'm really harmless as all get out. In the segment I'm doing right now I kill somebody. Because I think, you know, the voices have told me that I really should do this. That's an example of that higher will, being subverted. And the problem is that my brother who bent the rules kind of on a technicality got me out. And now as a result of that action somebody's dead. And he has to deal with that. I don't have to deal with anything because they're going to put me away. Somebody else will deal with me."

Another woman mentioned about dealing with people that seemed to be in this strange energy.

And David said, "It is useful. To anybody. I have seen people who cannot be dealt with, cannot be talked to, cannot be brought out of this strange energy. I've seen 'em just chill out. I'm sure you have too. It, I mean, even in really extreme . . . I mean it's a pity that in our mental hospitals that we don't have tai chi, qi gong therapists. But then it's a pity that in our doctor's offices, and in our clinics that we don't, too. Because so much in the way of medicine, so much in the way of containment, you know, strapping people down. Sticking needles in people. And cutting out people's organs and stuff like that. All those kinds of things could be, certainly lessened a good deal if they had this kind of therapy in our healing centers. Including the psychiatric wards, the prisons in the healing centers. But certainly in the doctoring places. Boy, I had this nutritionist-chiropractor that I really followed for a while like a guru. The precepts that were involved with his program I can never get rid of, even when I'm eating a piece of chocolate, I know that I'm eating a piece of chocolate. Of course we all do that. When I'm eating the food in the wrong order, when I am eating the fruit last, I notice it. I know I'm doing this. I shouldn't really be doing this. But anyway, this guy was healing people just by telling them what to eat. One of the things I wonder is it really eating the right things or is it thinking that you are eating the right things. It seems to me, that's where the qi is really at. In like saying, 'I think you can do this.' I think you can fool your qi. You say, 'I'm doing it right.' And just that in itself just, just say that to yourself and feel how much better that makes you feel instantly. I'm doing it right. Fuck you, I'm doing it right."

Rob Moses stated, "Why don't we take some time out and apply that. We'll go through some Nine Psalms. We're starting to run out of time here. We can work up an appetite and apply some of . . ."

And David said in the background "How can you run out of time?"

And Rob responded with, "We're not running out of time but, you know, I don't know. Let's ponder that and stay busy while we do it. Any way. I'd like to get through some of those with all of yours permission."

A woman wanted to know before we got started again if Rob had anything on tape because she worked with kids and she thought it would be fun for them.

Both David and Rob said, "Not yet" and Rob then added, "Hopefully, maybe we will. Lord willing we may be able to do something like that and apply ourselves accordingly, because I think it's a good idea."

The woman mentioned that it would be nice to have something because she would bring her Carradine tapes to the gym and the kids would see her working out and they would come up and ask questions.

Rob stated, "Well, l hopefully that would be something that we're able to manifest. In the mean time, whatever moments that you gather here is your own. And know that . . . feel free to share that. We have some notes here we're going to pass out right afterwards, so to try to keep it a little easier. That's an excellent question and hopefully we will be able to fulfill that sort of a problem."

At this point, everyone took a quick break to go to the restroom and to stretch. It was at this point that some people came up to David to get their books signed.

It was at that point that Helen and I took the opportunity to give David our gifts. I gave David the four elements sacred object gift that I had made at Dreamtime Center for Herbal Studies. He asked me if he could keep it and of course I said that I had made it for him. He then placed it, not in his jacket pocket, but inside his shirt next to his skin. Helen then gave him her gift, a jade circlet wrapped with a gold dragon and phoenix on a delicate chain. She felt the chain was too short, but he liked the delicacy of it. He put it around his neck and Helen told me he was showing it off that whole weekend. We then had our picture taken together with him.

You can see the plastic bag sticking out of his shirt that contained the sacred object that I made for him. I really felt honored by that when he stuck it inside his shirt and not in his jacket picket.

Afterward, I then showed him my two books, one being the hardcover of Spirit of Shaolin and the Unedited proof. He signed my hardcopy and once again shared the story regarding the hardcopy and its mistakes. Things though got really interesting when I showed him the unedited proof. He was quite surprised by that and told me that I might have the only copy out there and that I better hang onto that. He flipped through it and also saw the promo brochure. I am certain he was reliving old memories as to when that book had been produced. He asked me if I wanted it autographed. I wasn't certain. I felt it might be more valuable in its pristine condition and he thought I might be right.

Afterward, Rob Moses gathered us back together so we could do more of his Psalms.
