David Carradine, Omega, Helen, and Me
A personal account of the Qi Gung, Shaolin Kung Fu, & Taoist Meditation Workshop held at the Omega Institute with David Carradine from October 1-3, 1999
I received this letter from Michael Craft of the Omega Institute up in Rhinebeck , New York today. Michael Craft was the gentleman that contacted David Carradine and persuaded him to do the three day workshop this past year. I've edited the letter to reflect only that information that is pertinent to the upcoming event. To receive such a message personally, makes me feel good. To know that David will be back fills me with joy. I cannot describe fully how that weekend with David and his wonderful instructors made me feel. A smile forms on my face every time I think about it. It has given me memories that will last a lifetime. I will be looking forward to going back and once again speaking with him. My hope for David is that the message that he so desperately wished to convey is not only heard, but understood and followed. Kung Fu is not about fighting, but a way of life. It makes you feel good and improves your health and well being in so many ways. It builds energy, teaches you discipline, and brings you in harmony not only with your body but your mind. If we are able to harness that energy for good, we could accomplish so much more.

Dear Alisa,
Hi, I was just given a copy of your email to Omega Comments regarding David Carradine. I'm one of the people who research, contact and book the faculty for Omega's programs.
As someone whose life was deeply influenced by Carradine's work, I have tremendous respect for him and worked hard to bring him to Omega. I'm very happy that this course was as important for you as it was for me!
You might be glad to hear that David has just agreed to return to Omega next fall, for the weekend of October 6-8, 2000.
Per our discussions with him, this program will not include the "hard style" Kung Fu component of last summer's event. We certainly liked the Hung Gar Kung Fu masters he brought with him, but many of our beginning-level participants found their practices to be too strenuous. Instead, most people preferred the Tai Chi and Chi Kung practices. This year, David will focus strictly on the gentler and subtler aspects of Chi Kung and Taoist-Buddhist meditation. We do not yet know who his teaching assistants will be (other than his producer, David Nakahara). Feel free to post this information on your web site. People can phone Omega at 800-944-1001 to register or to request a catalog (out in early March).
Best Wishes,
Michael Craft,
